Report Reveals Kansas July Hotel Occupancy Compared to Previous Year


The 2020 State of Kansas Hotel Report created by STR compares Kansas’ hotel performance in July 2020 to its hotel performance in July 2019.  The following fluctuations occurred over the period of a year:

The occupancy % in Kansas is currently 47.1%.  In July 2019, Kansas saw 62.2% occupancy, showing how this rate lowered by -24.3% from July 2019 to July 2020.  The occupancy % YTD has gone down by -29.6%.  Kansas was at 58.6% occupancy YTD for 2019, and it has decreased to 40.0% occupancy YTD for 2020 thus far.

The average daily rate has experienced a 14.6% ADR change.  In July 2019, Kansas was at $76.95, and this value has increased to $90.13 in July 2020.  In addition, a 12.8% average daily rate YTD was calculated for Kansas between 2019 and 2020.  The 2019 YTD value was $88.99, and this value decreased to $77.57 in 2020.

The Kansas RevPAR has seen the most significant change, with the current RevPAR down -35.4%.  The July 2019 RevPAR was $56.05, and this value decreased to $36.21 in July 2020.  The RevPAR YTD has seen a -38.7% change, with the 2019 YDT value being $50.56 and the 2020 value decreasing to $31.02.
